Both have similar quality rooms, which I would define as average. If you can specify, stay in the section of the Marriott which has been renovated (I believe it's the West tower). Marriott has a better pool and work-out room area, and is very close to Busch Stadium. Adam's Mark is right next to the freeway, so try not to get a room facing east, or get a high room facing east, so you can see the arch and the river. Adam's Mark's restuarant, Faust's, is good but pricey. I have stayed in both and much prefer the Westin, but it's probably more expensive than the rate you're getting at either of these two hotels. It might come down to your purpose for the trip, whether you have children with you, etc... If I had to choose based on room quality and service, I'd probably give a slight edge to Adam's Mark.

I agree with the poster above. Both are fairly close to one another. The Adams Mark is a little bit more convenient as its right across the street from the park and Arch grounds and thus close to the river. Both are average hotels. The Adams Mark has a few nicer restaurants.

Are you coming in town for a ballgame or another reason and just wanting to stay downtown?
Both hotels are on the older side. The Adams Mark is okay but has a very mid 80's feel. Furniture in the rooms are worn and the decor has not changed a bit.
The Marriott has great location for ballgames. The renovated rooms are pretty good but the older tower really shows its age.

What price did you get? I think for the same price you can get a lot better hotel.
The Drury Suites is across the street and is tons nicer, but a bit more expensive.
There's also a brand new Hampton Inn that's just as convenient.
The Millenium has some beautiful rooms and is also along Broadway.

Don't miss the airshow in St. Louis over July 4th. They usually run it a couple times. Go to the top of the parking garage across from Busch Stadium on Broadway for a great view, or better yet go to the Top of the Riverfront restaurant at the Millenium hotel to watch it and have a nice (but expensive) meal. You could also try and book yourself a late night meal there for the fireworks but I'd call soon for a reservation if you want to do that.
