Squaw Valley Lodge-What's it like?

We're going to Squaw Valley for a conference and the Squaw Valley Lodge is the only accommodation still available. It apparently consists of private condominiums that are rented to guests. The Lodge says "there are differences in layout, style and decor from suite to suite." This makes me wonder how nice it will be. Somebody's threadbare towels downgraded from their main residence?

Anyone know this place?

We've stayed there twice, most recently in January of this year, and we like it very much. We're there to ski, and it's slopeside, which is a major advantage.

But more than that, our units (called a studio, but more like a one bedroom without the walls) were very attractive and well laid out. The lobby is very nice, and the concierge staff quite helpful.

The sushi place in the village is great, by the way. If you have a car, drive to Tahoe City and have a fabulous mango margarita at the hacienda.

Abram, thanks for the reassurance. I'm hoping it will be nice in the summer too.

There are no "dumps" in Squaw Valley -- it is a pretty upscale resort area. The Squaw Valley Lodge is VERY nice.

We were there last summer. Take the gondola ride up the mountain, as the views are spectacular At the top, there is a huge ice skating rink, hiking, and very nice lagoon type of pool. It does get a little breezy up there and cool. Bring your camera!
