Spring has officially sprung in NYC

Went through the Park this morning on the way to work and spring has officially sprung. The grass is starting to turn green, the first bits of yellow are starting to show on the forcynthia, there are some little yellow flowers growing in clumps (are those daffodils?) and some of the trees are starting to get little leaf buds on them. In a week it should start to look really good.

Yes nytraveler - the daffodils are just beginning. The crocuses (sp?) have been out awhile. I'm ready for the explosion! Also, the tulips on Park are starting to show some green coming through.

My daughter and I plan to rendezvous in NYC this coming weekend. We usually go for a weekend during January but had to postpone the trip this year. We plan to do lots of outdoors stuff! This time, we'll finally make it up to the Cloisters, as well as walks in Central Park, a flea market, etc.

I was in NYC this past weekend and spent several hours in Central Park. I had been in the park on another visit, but just in the southern end of the park. I really enjoyed exploring the park and it was a beautiful day, with lots of joggers and others enjoying the park.

Despite the cold, gray day, I walked the lower loop this morning and there is a tree hanging over the loop (I think Magnolia) that is full of big buds ready to pop - another week and it will be stunning.
