Spirit Air

Anyone lucky enough to get thru Spirit Airlines today? Have been trying since 8am. Just wondering how many people are taking advantage of this promotion.

What a great marketing idea. They went from an airline that most people had never heard of to the the most popular airline in one day. While they're giving away one day. the majority of people are still going to be paying for a return flight since they'll be flying back at a later date.

True, but I checked how much a return flight would be from LA to Chicago and it was only $84. I just wondered if more people who normally wouldn't fly, would be taking advantage of this.

I thought I heard on the news this morning that they were only charging people 1/2 the price of a return ticket!!!

It wasn't a great marketing idea; it was a gimmick from a desperate airline! They offered very few seats at the "free" rate and they were all sold probably within the first few airlines. We'll be lucky if they're still around in September to transport the people who purchased the tickets!

Angie, ALL seats on 9/11 are free. How can you possibly claim "they offered very few seats at the "free" rate"??? ALL is more than FEW, dear.

They're reimbursing the fare for those who all ready bought a ticket for that day. Based on that, I'd say that they're giving all of the seats away for free.

Frommer's just sent an announcement out about the free flights on Spirit Air. 13,200 seats were available, however, Spirit's site this evening said that all of the seats have been taken.

Better luck next time.

What an absurd promotion. Most people couldn't get through on the phone or the Net. I wanted to book a flight for Labor Day and was shut out the entire day.
I booked my flight on AirTran. Spirit lost a regular customer.

The spirit idea was great they offered free tickets for the whole day and even if you had booked they gave you vouchers for another time. It is agreat airline what a wonderful thought to do it. It is a real thank you. I heard they were all out of over 13000 seats. We need to support small airlines . They care.

I figured they would sell out. I fly Spirit when I have to make last minute trips to the east coast. Reasonable prices, tight spaces though.
And it's always crowded!!!
