HowardR, Patrick, anyone!

I would like to show some visitors from China a Broadway show. They do not speak English, but I think that they would love the experience.

I am thinking a Musical (Lion King), or a visual type show( Blue Man) would be the way to go.

I have not been to a Broadway show since 'My one and Only" Tommy Tune ( I liked it!) ....Yeah! I know it was a looong time ago....

Any thoughts on some good broadway shows for February??

bme, that's a tough call.
I think The Lion King just might be a good choice. Or perhaps, Phantom of the Opera.
I definitely would not consider any of the other current musicals.
The fact that they don't speak English makes it tough. I speak from experience. Some friends from Italy, who do speak some English, still were lost when viewing American musicals (Grease" and one other, the name of which I forget).

This might be a long shot, but what about Movin out? The plot is so minimal to the enjoyment of the show.
I agree that Lion King would be number one. Phantom? Only if they've seen it or know the story.

Lion King is what I am thinking....but WOW... those prices are still so high!
Maybe I will buy them the video........just kidding!!
On second thought, they can probably get the DVD in China for 8 RMB!!

Patrick, my first thought was also Movin' Out, since it's mostly the universal language of dance. But, then I realized that part of the story is about a war that took place in Asia. And, since the guests in question are Asian, I wasn't if it would be a good choice.
As for Phantom of the Opera, there are discount tickets available.

Howard, I wanted to get them great seats and a visual great show. I read your post about "Movin Out" and Southeast Asia. I kept checking many of the shows that were offered, the seat locations, and the prices!

Call me crazy but I took Front mezz. center for...... "Movin out"!

I think that they will be caught up in the whole spectacle of the event to read too far into the Asia thing......and bottom line....I like Billy Joel!!

Movin' Out is an excellent choice. We're not Billy Joel fans, but we loved the show. And, if they like dancing, it's be a great experience for them. And the seats are great. Enjoy!
As I wrote, I was just sensitive to the fact that part of the show takes place during and in the Vietnamese conflict, and I wasn't sure how your Asian guests would react.

"Moving Out" was EXCELLENT! Even better if you are a Billy Joel Fan!
Dancers really worked the stage and the Band.....Rocked! The lead singer/piano player did it better than Billy!!

Oh yeah, the Guests like it as well...I think? I tried to tell them this is what it was like to "grow up" in the late 60's but I think they have a slightly different prespective on that!!

John, I'm glad it worked out so well and that you and (apparently) your guests enjoyed Movin' Out.

Sounds like you had fun. My question is, what was it like to hear your Chinese friends say "Billy Joel"?
