Southwest charging USD15/ for early bird check in
#21
We were 10 minutes past the 24 hours when we checked into our flight. We were at the Space Center in Houston!!. We ended up No 22 and 23 in Group B. When we boarded there were two seats together in the front row. The other person who boarded first had taken the aisle seat. We were very pleased. We had both resigned ourselves to sitting apart and in a middle seat.

asmin, When they say check in they mean go on the computer and check in and print out your boarding passes. You take them to the airport an hour or two before the flight as usual.
I have found the people at the hotel I am at willing to print the boarding pass for me if I can't and some people use an i phone and just show the pass that way.

I have flown SW a lot lately. We get the computer ready and click on the boarding pass at the 24 hour mark, as does everybody else, I think. Don't worry about it. Flights are not long. You can usually get a seat that is OK. I have never got a bad one. With a family, you will probably find seat together as people will sometimes move for you. DH and I both like isle seats so book or look for isle seats across from each other or in back or front of each other. Has worked every time.

Perhaps this is just assumed, but you can also check-in via a smartphone using Southwest's app--you don't have to use a computer. You can have the boarding pass stored on your phone--no need to print it out.
