South Street Sepaort vicinity to subway
Hi all--
I'm planning a trip to Manhattan in a couple of months and will be staying at the Best Western Seaport Inn. I do have a subway map of the lines, and they are fairly close to the area I am staying in, but it's hard to determine where the nearest stations are on this map. Can someone tell me of the nearest subway station that will take me (where else) uptown? Approximate distance will be greatly appreciated as well.
Thanks in advance
Ruby

The nearest are probably the 4,5,6 at city Hall (East side train). The 6 is the local, makes lots of stops. The 4 and 5 are express, just 2 stops to 42nd St/Grand Central. For West Side, the 2 or 3 on Wall St. (also maybe the 1, it has been re-routed since 9/11).

Fulton Street Station (aka Broadway-Nassau) is the closest station. It has four major subway lines through it; two will take you uptown to the west side (the A,C and 1,2) and one will take you uptown to the east side (4,5). The station is roughly 1/3 mi from the Seaport, though I don't know exactly where your hotel is.

As Suzanne pointed out the nearest subway is on Fulton Street, a 10 minute walk from the hotel. It is a major hub. The #4 and #5 train runs under Lexington Ave. from 42nd Street to 125th ST. The #1 and #2 runs under BRoadway from 42nd ST to way uptown. In midtown the A and C trains run under 8th Avenue
