south lake tahoe restaurants

any recommendations for good casual restaurants/buffets for breakfast, lunch or dinner. we will be going out one night for a fancy dinner but would appreciate recommendations for the other days for less expensive. does the tudor pub or mulligans serve good meals? we are staying at harveys so walking distance would be a bonus but not necessary as we'll have a car. any good mexican restaurants in town? thanks for your help

Good Mexican resaurant The Cantina Bar and Grill. It's not near the casinos so you'll need to use your car. Head towards the Y (which is really no longer a Y but now a 4 way traffic light) and turn right toward Camp Richardson. It'll be on your right.

The Riva Grill is the south shore version of the north shore restaurant Garwoods. You can get the great Wet Woody there a yummy rum drink. It's located at the marina.

The Yellow Submarine is a tiny sandwich shop down a side street after you pass the grassy lakeside area on Tallac Ave. Great sandwiches.

There is always the chain standbys like Dennys and Marie Calendars too.

I'll second the Cantina Bar & Grill. We went there twice in less than a week!

Our all time favorite place is Hoss Hoggs. It's just a hole in the wall place but they have the BEST RIBS! 2543 Hwy 50 at Sierra Blvd. South Lake Tahoe, CAlifornia...it's not near the casino's either.

The Dory Oar is nice for lunch. Located right next to Inn by the Lake. It's a family-owned pub and there is fine dining in the evening which was very good. ***kim***

A short drive from Harvey's on the CA side is the Red Hut Waffle Shop, a terrific breakfast spot, very casual. Also Izzy's for tasty burgers, both reasonably priced.
