Ruby,
I just posted a trip report last week. Go to the Search area and type in Sonoma and you'll find lots of reports and info. I loved the town of Healdsburg- great restaurants and shopping.People will tell you to go to the big wineries- but we really enjoyed some of the smaller, off-the-beaten path ones. we got excellent service. Be sure to see Dan at Hoffman House Deli in Geyserville for a delicious lunch before you head to Ferrari-Carano's lush gardens.Or eat it at Lake Sonoma winery. Don't miss Meeker winery- tastings are in an old bank in Geyserville with Cynthia- one of the funniest, most entertaining women I've ever seen! She will direct you to some of the best places- take your map with you. Enjoy!

Expensive, but if it is in your budget get a Suite at the Sonoma Mission Inn and Spa. The Suites have fireplaces, jacuzzi tubs with hundreds of jets (some in the middle of the room others in the bathroom), bed and sheets to die for, a CD player filled with romantic CDs, a free bottle of red wine, balconies with great mountain views, full spa services, the BEST food.... I don't stay anyplace else!!

gee, sure hope seamus never needs any travel advice. but if he does, hopefully someone will scold him and remind him that it's all probably been answered before, anyway. that could be said of practically every question here! sure am glad there aren't more like him since I, for one, actually enjoy the exchange of new information and believe that there are always fresh sources and opinions that haven't yet been heard from.
haven't been to sonoma in years and years, ruby, or I'd help you out.
good luck and have fun.

I also loved Healdsburg - great wineries in every direction - favorites were Hop Kiln, Belvedere, Armida. Least favorite was Rabbit Ridge (the wine tastes fine at home but the tastes we were offered at the winery were undrinkable). Great shopping and lots of restaurants in Healdsburg.
