Small plane flights in Alaska - comparable to helicopter??
We were thinking of doing some flightseeing in Fairbanks or Denali but I'm worried about motion in the small planes. I'm fine on regular planes and cruise ships, but I got deathly ill on a helicopter, and that was with Dramamine. How much motion can we expect (end of August/beginning of September)?

Light planes are just as susceptible to bumpy air as choppers, but for flightseeing I prefer them. Depends on the setup - any middle seats v. all windows, and whether the thing/place being seen is more conducive to hovering v. circling. Usually fixed-wing flights are cheaper.
Ask the driver about how bumpy things are; they'll know what you're likely to experience, then you can make up your own mind.
Seeing Denali from a light plane is a not-to-be-forgotten experience, so tough it out if you can.

I had no problems at all with several flight seeing planes in Alaska. I was worried before we went too.
The best flights I have ever taken were in Alaska on sea planes as take off and landing are so smooth.
