Sleigh Ride Dinner in Aspen

Does anyone know of the Pine Creek Cook House? It's a $90 round trip cab ride from Aspen if you don't have a car. Does anyone know of a better way to get there or better place to go for the same experience?

I guess you're talking about the winter? We went for Sunday brunch last summer and it was wonderful, but then we had a car. We sat next to Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta. . . We call it the day we had brunch with Michael and Catherine.
Can't answer your question, hopefully someone else can, but it was a great place and I'd urge you to go.

Yes, I have eaten dinner there, but not the sleigh ride. My good freind drives the sleight so I am somewhat familiar with it. It is a first class operation, and as a matter of fact my husband and I are planning a trip there this month, and will also do the sleigh ride. I don't know about how to get there, but I do know there is no better dinner sleigh ride in Aspen.

Only other option which would be a kind of "sleigh" experience would be to go up to Krabloonik in Snowmass and go for a dog-sled ride before dinner... Both are wonderful with really good food!

I'd love to do the Krabloonik adventure but it's $600 for a couple. It sounds like a lot of fun...but hard to justify that when spending so much on the rest of our trip.

Have you tried or heard of the Lynn Britt Cabin? It's a snow cat ride up to the restaurant. I'm wondering how it compares to the other experiences.

I don't know it. It is a fairly recent development in Snowmass, so don't know about the food, etc. Personally, I find being in a snow cat kind of noisy... Fun during the day if you are doing some back-country skiing. I suppose if you've never done it it could be romantic. Looking at Lynn Brit on the Web, it seems to be more for a group experience than for a couple... but never having done it, I don't know. Hopefully someone else can voice an opinion...

Oh yeah, about getting out to Pine Creek Cookhouse... it's pretty far up in the mountains and taxis are fairly expensive in Aspen, so not surprised about the $90 and as it is a RT quote it doesn't seem that unreasonable especially considering either waiting time or the equivalent of four trips (drop off, back to town, back out to pick up, then back to town). Why don't you call them at the Pine Creek and see if they have a suggestion... Maybe you could take the free shuttle bus to the base lodge at Aspen Highlands and try to arrange transportation from there up to Ashcroft... Good Luck!

I did end up going to the Lynn Britt and it was very charming and the food was excellent but the snowcat did nothing for me...it was freezing and we just couldn't wait to get to the top. The sleigh ride dinners I have done in the past were much more romantic. Also, we were disappointed there wasn't a fireplace in the restaurant. It would have added so much to the charm. You are seated with other diners unless you have a big enough group--which was nice, unless you wanted a romantic dinner.
All in all, it was a little disappointing. Would have rather done Pine Creek if we could have found a less expensive way to get there. (Anon, we did call them, but they had no other method besides the taxi).
