Vail, CO Thanks all

Just back from Vail - had a wonderful time. Thanks all for the help.

We stayed at te Marriott mountainside resort - very nice - had a room with a fireplace - very welcome given the weather. The day we arrived it was rainy and cold - but we are not easily dettrred and ventured out with umbrellas. Had lunch at tiny little hole in the wallish place - La Cantina and had surpisingly good fish tacos and shrimp tacos.

Wandered around Vail - very pretty the mountains around are gorgeous. Dinner that night was at Sweet Basil - amazing food.

That night it snowed!!! inches and inches of it. We were to go rafting the next day - and again we bravely decided to go - clad in wet suits and jackets- but by afternoon when our trip started the day was glorious at least down in Buena Vista from where our trip was to start. Had lunch before at evergreen cafe. The rafting trip was great - I don't swim so to go on this trip with the class 2/3 rapids was a bit scary - but all went well and we had a wonderful time - went with KODI rafting. There was another group of 8 thatw as to go with us - when that group did not show up - the guys at KODI took just the 2 of us out anyways - we had 4 guides for 2 people!!!. a Fun trip.

Dinner was at La Tour - they had 50% of entrees and recommened by the concierge - and the menu was not too French Good food. Must say though did not top Sweet Basil.
The following day - we had massage sat the spa in Mariott - and then went off to a hike to Hanging lake - gorgeous -if a little crowded- stunning views. Then it was off to Denver - had dinner at a sports bar - paramount - good beer - food was okay. Downtown was sort of quiet - maybe cause of memorial day. And that was the end of our short trip.

Unfortunatly we could not mountain bike because of the weather - but the trip had whetted our appetite for another vist to Colorado - maybe another time.

Again Coskier, Grethcen and others thanks for the help.

I was very interested in your report, as we are heading for Vail on July 7th (hopefully, it won't snow!!!). Sounds like you had a great time. I am going to make a reservation at Sweet Basil - sounds excellent!

We are staying at the Sonnenalp. I am looking forward to it.

Thanks again for your report!

indie glad you had a good time. Heard that it snowed. Kudos to you for making the most of it. Hope you make it back out for better weather. Of course no rain for weeks till a holiday weekend.
