How about Niagara on the Lake, in Ontario Canada? There are a total of 3 casinos (I think)in Niagara Falls, 2 on the Canadian side and one on the American. Niagara on the Lake has great Inns, spas, restaurants, wineries and shopping. The only drawback would be the weather, if you can hold off until Spring it would be a better destination.

Can anyone recommend the Queen Elizabeth or the Bonaventure in Montreal? I've heard due to their central location and the fact that they are over the underground shopping, they are hotels we should consider.

If anyone is familiar with these hotels, to get to the casino from either one, how would you do it?

My husband and I stayed at the Bonaventure a few years ago and it was pleasant. The outdoor heated pool was memorable. You can swim to it from indoors. It is above the underground city which is convenient for shopping (and maneuvering through the city on chilly, windy days!) I would stay there again.

We've also stayed at the nearby Delta, the Nouvel Hotel, Hotel Lord Berri (not recommended) and a Sheraton. I liked the Sheraton's location best as better positioned us for the roaming our favorite neighborhoods but you should be quite comfortable at the Bonaventure which if I remember correctly, is Hilton?

Also, if you enjoy theatre - the Centaur Theatre as some of the best theatre we have ever enjoyed -anywhere! We go up to see a couple productions each season. It's the city's only best English theatre and it's world-class. www.centaurtheatre.com

And I can rcommend a couple of different Indian or Thai restaurants if you'd like.

We sublet a Montreal apartment a couple summers ago so we could visit often - it was one of the best summers! And for about $400/us per month we had the city at our doorstep whenever we chose.

I think you really have to work at it to have a bad time in Montreal!
