Similar hotel to Kona Village

We loved Kona Village and are sad that it has closed. Does anyone have any recommendations on a similar hotel. We are not interested in a high rise hotel. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

None like KVR. Travaasa Hotel (formerly Hotel Hana Maui) in Hana, Maui probably comes closest to being an all-inclusive type, but does not have anywhere near the same beachside services and ambience.

On Kauai we loved the cottages at-

We made a special trip over to Kauai (from the Big Island) after seeing them on a Samantha Brown special. LOVED it!

I take the OP post to mean a similar place in/near Kona; not on another island. I could be wrong, but....

Thank you to everyone for your responses. Yes, we'd be open to going to other islands. We take an annual extended-family trip and we've been spoiled by KV. I've been searching the web trying to find something similar. But, it appears there's nothing else quite like KV. The Waimea Plantation looks lovely. However, I think that my in-laws would have a tough time getting around there.

I'm not sure why. The grounds are very flat.

"...and we've been spoiled by KV. I've been searching the web trying to find something similar"

There is nothing similar.

The Four Seasons next door is very nice. They may like it better than the KV. If their budget allows, a villa there would be especially nice.

There is NO resort in the islands that is remotely similar to KVR. Four Season is not a thing like KVR eventhough it is owned by the same partnership entities. KVR was totally unique. FS discourages friendships between staff and guests. KVR was known for the feeling of ohana between staff and guests.

The closest in the sense of friendly staff, cultural emphasis, excellent snorkeling and beautiful semi-wild grounds is the Mauna Lani. Sadly you have a big box for the resort. I now vacation at the condos surrounding the Mauna Lani.
