Shuttle or Taxi in Las Vegas?
We are two couples going to Vegas in July, is it more convenient and about the same cost to take a taxi and share the cost or to get roundrip tickets for a shuttle to the airport and back? We arrive at the Venetian and then head home from the Rio Hotel to the west of the strip.
Any ideas?

Hi
Having lived there for 25 years I can tell you the airport is in a good location. You know how some places you go to everything is 30 minutes away well not here. It all depends on the traffic. Either or should be okey. To save a little go with the shuttle, the Venetian is only 15 minutes maybe from the airport. It just depends on traffic and which way your cabby goes. If he goes straight down the strip- well forget it you are there forever. But if he takes the 215 to I15 etc then it is a lot faster.
The Rio is is even closer to the airport. Again I know I sound like a broken record but traffic is key here. My brother (whom works at the Venetian) drives to both hotels frequently and he lives on the other side of the airport. He agrees with me.
But again when you land you will see you are on Tropicana just 2 blocks down from the MGM so you are very near the strip. Go with the shuttle just in case traffic is slow. Wow it took me a long time to come to that conclusion.
Have Fun!

So my best guess is a round trip shuttle fare for the 4 of us? How about the transfer from the Venetian to the Rio? I know there is a free shuttle from Harrah's to the Rio but i don't believe they will let you take baggage on that one.
Probably just as easy to catch a cab for this? since you are traveling across the strip and not trying to traverse along it?

it strikes me as odd that if you're staying at the venetian and rio, you'd care about the difference between a cab and a shuttle.. what is it?.... one hand of blackjack?
you're in vegas... where self indulgence reigns. take a cab.... heck, take a limo.....

DH and I were in LV early last month and took a cab to and from and the fare was just fine. I must say though that the line at the airport to catch the cab was HUGE! We had to navigate a Disneyland-like line for about 20-30 minutes just to get a cab (with luggage and all). They do have a good system and a continuous line of cabs all lined up for people, and they move people through quickly but there were just lots of people in line. Don't know if it's like that always or if we just arrived at a popular time. Also don't know if shuttle lines are any better.

We arrived on February 20 Sunday before the President's Monday, off the plane on the shuttle which was standing there picking passengers up. Didn't take more then 5 minutes to buy tickets, to get on, then another couple, and off we went. And it was noon or a little later.
