Las Vegas transportation

Just returned from a quick trip to Vegas. We didn't rent a car since we only stayed one night. After paying $34 for a taxi to downtown, the hotel clerk reserved a shuttle for the ride back to the airport and we were so surprised to only pay $6.50 each. The shuttle driver said you don't need reservations when you arrive at the airport. Just follow signs to the shuttle area.

You didn't mention where you stayed, but taxi fare from the airport to Strip hotels is generally less than $20.

Unfortunately, taxi drivers may ask "First time to Las Vegas"? and take the long way around (famously known as "getting tunneled").

Note that taking a shuttle back to the airport is less expensive (as is a taxi, because you don't pay the fee/tax charged when leaving the airport) and more convenient. On landing, there are often very long lines for the shuttle and you could find yourselves spending a lot of time dropping off other people.

trying to decide between reserving a limo about 122 RT and taking the shuttle..12 RT pp...since there are 6 of us the shuttle would be 72...quick math limo is 50.00 more expensive...is it worth it?

I'd recommend renting a car. We had one for a week for about $120, which allowed us to go to some places that weren't easily accessible by public transportation.

the difference is $50 for your own limo that will drop you at teh front door of the hotel, vs a shuttle that may have to drop off other people at 2 or 3 other hotels. In traffic that could be up to an extra 30 -40 minutes. Many limo cos have web specials. google las vegas airport trans.
