Shuttle from San Fran to Sonoma?

Hi. My wife and I are visiting my brother in Sonoma this fall. We don't want him to have to drive to the San Francisco airport to pick us up. Is there a shuttle service that won't cost an arm and a leg? Thanks. JWH.

well it is a fairly long trip so it will be pretty expensive how ever you decide to go. The fare will be $75 to $80+ each round trip.

the best is probably http://www.sonomaairporter.com/

(for $160 I'd certainly try to get my brother to pick me up - a nice lunch on the way would break up the drive)

I have 2 alternative suggestions.

1. You could catch a Marin County airporter which will cost about $15 pp and leave you in downtown San Rafael, Larkspur (or Novato for a few dollars more). Your brother could pick you up there. It's about halfway between Sonoma and SFO so it will save him at least an hour's drive each way.

2. Rent the cheapest car you can find for 1 day from the SF airport, drive to Sonoma, and drop the car there. We have done this in the opposite direction when we had a very early flight and found it cost effective. We've gotten a car for about $35-40 for 1 day from Alamo, no drop charge at SFO but not sure about the other way. Worth checking into, anyway.

Even better-you can take the Santa Rosa
Airporter bus to Petaluma (an easy drive from Sonoma town)from SFO each way is $26.00 pp.
We use it every time we go to/from SFO.
Here is a link to schedules:

Oh Miss Marilyn-It gets even better!
In the shower(where great ideas happen
and you don't have a pen)
I re-called
seeing this van on our last pass through SFO.
The Sonoma Airporter will drop you at
Sonoma City Hall (the one with the chickens in the square) for $25 pp
to from SFO or door to door for $5 more!

http://www.sonomaairporter.com/

The downside is that the Sonoma Airporter has a lot fewer times than the SR Airporter-Sooooo, JWH me thinks it will be up to you, your brother and your flight times.
Fall is the best time to be here!

razzledazzle - I think the fares have gone up since your shower memory. The web site says $35 to city Hall/ $70 R-T ($40/$80 for door to door)

Cheaper to rent a car, if there's no drop charge.

JVVH: You don't say where in Sonoma that your bro lives. Another option is to take Evans Airport Servuce to Napa and have him pick u up.

Maybe you should ask your brother what would be the best option. Just a thought since he lives there.

Astrolabe - He lives in Healdsburg (sp?) but just moved out there a couple of months ago. Besides, nothing beats the combined travel knowledge of the Fodorites!

You should have said Healdsburg in the first place rather than the county it's in. And, I would trust any info your brother can give you more than what you can get from the Fodorites.

Well then, I would take the Santa Rosa Airporter to the Sonoma County airport location-this is north of the city of Santa Rosa and an easy ride to/from Healdsburg. still $26 each way ($24 62+)

Hey astrolabe-
"And, I would trust any info your brother can give you more than what you can get from the Fodorites."
I feel that to be VERY rude, there are many of us who haved
lived here quite a while and give
reliable info.
Bugger off kiddo.

Razzledazzle - I agree! But in the words of Ferris Bueller (paraphrased)....it is understanding that allows people like us to tolerate people like that. Thanks to everyone else...I'll try to be more specific with my posts in the future.
