Thanks for your post. I'm glad to see some other sides to the city as well. I can understand what you mean about everyone being from there. I'm from Wilkes-Barre (about 2 hours North of Philly) and I know that a lot of people in the NE don't see to move around much.

I guess it's in contrast to me being tired of people never being from D.C. The transient nature can take it's toll. It's like living in an airport.

It's good to hear your take. It's something I will definitely consider at look for when visiting. I can say this, the little that I've been up there, it didn't seem like people had the interest in meeting new people like they do in D.C.

Thanks!
Jodi

I have to disgree with the previous poster.

I'm not a Philadelphia native--I grew up in the sticks, about two hours northwest of the city. My circle of friends includes several born-and-bred Philadelphians (in fact my husband has lived here all his life), a couple of people who moved into the city from the suburbs (South Jersey, Pa., and Delaware), and people who migrated here from places as varied as North Jersey, Kenya, Kansas City, Connecticut, Virginia, California, France, the Ukraine, and the Netherlands.

Center City seems to inspire people to mix and mingle. I think it's much more insular (as the previous poster described) on the Main Line.
