I soaked up Philly like a sponge.

My first visit to Philly at age 48 and I loved it.Stayed at the Marriot Residence Inn next to city hall,
The hotel was very close to the Reading Terminal Market, we visited three times. What an amazing variety of food Had my first Philly cheesesteak ( with cheese whiz and onions) it was wonderful.
The Liberty Bell/ Ind. Hall area is all torn up from construction , was not impressed with the visitor's center.
My favorite historical site was Christchurch. Sitting in Washington's pew listening to a church guide was facinating.
Dinner at Morimoto's was the highlight for me. We are big "Iron Chef" fans and Morimoto himself prepared our sushi.
I have been to lots of art museums in my travels, but I do believe the Philadelphia Museum of Art is my favorite. It has a unique way of presenting art in its original period settings that tells a deeper story.
But then it was on to Atlantic City, yikes...

Yes, isn't Philadelphia great!? We were there for the first time a month or so ago. I loved Christ Church also, got some great photos with the trees just beginning to get green.
We saw the Degas exhibit at the museum, was there something special going on when you werethere? I want to go back and see the Rodin Museum next trip

I'm glad you liked Philadelphia. I spent a wonderful year living there when I was in my twenties. It was at Tang's Chinese restaurant on South Street that I learned how to use chopsticks. My friend kept pinching me with hers until I dropped my fork and started using them! One of the many fun times in Philly. You know, people used to make fun of Philadelphia as being dirty and rundown, but that's certainly not the way it is anymore.

Recall the old WC Fields quotes?

"First prize was a week in Philadelphia. Second prize was 2 weeks".

"I once went to Philadelphia, but it was closed".

Or his suggested epitaph for himself: Here lies W. C. Fields. All things considered, I'd rather be living in Philadelphia.

Fields was born in Philly. (As a former resident I'm only poking a little fun. Philly ahs some fine attributes).

After dinner at a place called Friday,Saturday,Sunday, we walked around the neighborhood. I like looking at glimpses of apartments that you could see from the street. I was wishing we could move to Philadelphia by the end of that walk!
There might be bad neighborhoods, as in all cities, but the atmosphere of small town but big city was great and I liked the friendliness of the people.
I also am a fool for old buildings so I was in my element there!

travleis-I like the "2 Weeks" !
