Short Connection at Ohare/International Flight
Hi all!
I am flying out of Cincinnati, connecting in Ohare to a flight to Dublin, Ireland in about a week.
My fear is the short layover time between flights. We only have an hour and 20 mins between our flight on United express (terminal 1) to our flight on Aer Lingus (terminal 5)
Is this considered enough time? It seems short to me, especially in Ohare (though I've never flown through there). I have visions of my luggage not making it with me and the notorious delays at ohare. I guess a delay would be in my favor if my flight out of ohare is delayed. Its my incoming I'm worried about. Any comments would be appreciated!
Thanks
Debra

I think that's going to be a problem. The international flights are in a seperate terminal, so you'll need to leave the secured area after arriving from your Cincy flight, take the airport tram to the international terminal, then go through security again. If they check your bags through onto your next flight, you might just make it. If you need to retrieve and check your bags, it's not going to work.

I seem to recall there was a similar thread about this same topic last week on the Airline Forum. There were quite a number of good responses. You should be able to find it easily there by scrolling through recent posts or using the search feature.

1. If you can checkin/get boarding pass for the ORD to Dublin flight at the origin, Cincinnati, I would have no problem booking this with 80min connection. The CVG-ORD plane will be a small one, so you'll be fast off the plane. It won't take you 30min to get from Term 1 to 5, so you'll still be at the gate 45-60min before departure. As long as you are checked-in, then there is no problem.
2. If you can check your bags through, but need to checkin at Aer Lingus in Chicago, I would not do it.
3. If you need to both reclaim bags in ORD checkin at Aer Lingus, then no way at all.
I would call Aer Lingus to find out if you can checkin at CVG.
I would also carryon everything I need for the first 24hrs in case my bags were delayed. After that, my bags will show up, or I can buy clean clothes in Dublin.
