shopping with teenager in D, C.
I will be in Washington for a weekend with my 15 year old granddaughter. I promised shopping. We are staying at Dupont Circle. Are there suitable shops in the area that are reasonably priced? Where would I find a suitable (not designer) and fun area for a little shopping. Would Union Station fit the bill? Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
I have read about self guided walking tours in the original African American neighbourhood. Would there be suitable shops in that area?
Thanks for any suggestions you may have.

FYI, "Fashion City" is the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City Mall which is located right at the Pentagon City Metro station in Arlington. There are a good number of stores inside the mall itself and many others within walking distance. It is a popular shopping destination for local teens.

I would not go to Fashion Centre at Pentagon City as it's a mall that is not really all that different than anything you can find elsewhere in America. Georgetown is a great option with similar stores you'd find in a mall, but set in a charming, historic neighborhood (there's a Banana Republic, Loft, Madewell, Zara, H&M, etc). Near DuPont, you will find only a couple good options (Loft, Lou Lou, etc). Another benefit of Georgetown: great little cafes and bakeries and restaurants if you need a shopping break and to recharge!
