Sheraton Princess Kaiulani

Has anyone stayed at the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani? I just got it for $50 a night on Priceline (as has everyone on www.biddingfortravel.com).

What is your opinion of the accomodations and location?

Also, reviews I have read state that if you stay at one Sheraton, you can use facilities at all the other Sheratons during your stay. Anyone used the other facilities?

Any other benefits?

Large hotel, varied accommodations - lots of Asian tour groups. Very convenient location, altho not on the beach you can just walk across the street. We stayed there twice, first time the room was not very good - very small and dinghy, facing nothing in particular (this was a air/hotel package throught American Airlines) and we could hear lots of noise from the garbage trucks in the a.m. Since the room was rather dinghy we asked for another room, the hotel was full but the manager gave us a 50% off for another visit ... since we were living in CA and Hawaii is a reasonable vacation destination we took it. Next time we stayed there we had a much nicer and larger room (but not in the Tower bldg). The hotel still had a lot of Asian tour groups on our second visit. The pool is rather small, but we didn't use it anyway. Basically the location is very good and you are close to the Sheraton Surfrider-Moana as well (we ate breakfast over there every day).
For $50 I'd say take it - but beware you could get one of the rooms facing the loading dock and garbage colletion is VERY early in the a.m.

Stayed there twice. I agree, rooms not anything extra special, but we did get a king size bed overlooking the pool.

This is a great location. We enjoyed staying there.

This is a good price for this hotel. We usually stay here on our way through honolulu/waikiki. I like the location, it is right across from the beach and we have always had a nice view of the beach (request it)The hotel is more up to date than alot of others in the area. It has a nice open lobby. The rooms are nothing special but they are not dissapointing or dirty. I do not think you can share the facilities like the pool etc at the other sheratons but I kind of remember being able to charge anything to my room at other sheratons. The pool was very cold when we went last december and really you could not use it unless the sun was beating down at noon-2:00. However I think this is probably true of most hotels as we were told they don't really need to heat them. Have a good time...

It's just across the street from Sheraton's other Waikiki properties, the Sheraton Waikiki, the Moana Surfrider, etc., though always more reasonable in price. It is located right in the heart of Waikiki.

Its amazing that this place is a Sheraton. More like a Motel 6. I recently got back from Honolulu-was meant to stay at this place. My rate was $150 and upon checking in as a platinum Starwood member was shown three different rooms all of which smelled musty and were small for the rate I was paying. these were probably three of the better rooms but I thought were outrageous for the price. I left and moved across the street to the Moana Surfrider where I got a rate of $170. Like heaven and hell.

The rooms here vary quite a bit. Some are very small, motel like and overlook a parking garage. I had much the same reaction as Tim when I checked in - this is a Sheraton? But the next day they moved me into a much nicer, though equally small room overlooking the pool. If you're not happy, try asking for another room although I hear that they don't often give upgrades to priceline guests.

stayed there on a Priceline bid in December-- had a great room-- no problems. Would definitley stay there again. We were able to use the facilities of the other Sheraton properties. I have never seen a Motel 6 that even closely resembles the PK maybe we were just lucky!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for all your advice. I went on my trip in December. The first room they gave me was on the second floor overlooking the loading dock and garbage cans and the second room had no balcony. However, for $50 a night it was a good deal. The location was fine. One of my friends went w/ the same Priceline deal the week before me and got a much better room, so I guess it's just the luck of the draw.
