Seward Windsong or Edgewater

I am trying to decide between the Seward Windsong Lodge or the Edgewater Hotel in Seward. Both are accepting the Great Alaskan Tour Saver Coupon in July. Does anyone have any input as to which one is nicer?
Also in Denali, Does anyone know anything about the Cedars Lodge? It is the newest part of Denali River Cabins, also accepting coupon.

I haven't stayed at the Windsong so I cannot compare the two but I stayed at the Edgewater last September and I recommend it as a nicely kept, basic hotel. It's not super luxurious but it is clean and well maintained and the staff had great attitudes toward their guests.

We were in Seward this last year. I didn't stay at either one of these places, but we eat dinner at the Windsong one evening. It was every nice, but it is alittle out of town on the road going to Exit Glacier;a very pretty area.A lot of trees and the buildings are made of log.If we were to go again I would consider the Windsong.

Gayle,

I would vote for the Windsong. Newer accomodations and away from downtown which is not very attractive. Be sure to visit the Marine Center.

Conversely, if you WANT to be in the downtown area where you can walk to anything (and see the water), I would not stay at the Windsong as it's a couple of miles away.

I like Edgewater's location much better. Seward is a nice small town to walk around in and the scenery with the water and mountains is fabulous. Also, you can walk to get on the day cruises without having to park.

We ate dinner at theWindsong.. fabulous meal, great service, and killer views. We did not spend the night as we had already checked into hotel in seward, but wished we had stayed there. I'd much rather wander around there and Exit glacier and drive into town. It is 2 miles from Seward.
