September Whale Watching in San Diego

We will be in San Diego Sept. 20-27. Were thinking of taking a whale watching cruise. I was under the impression that the whale watching season was in the spring. Will we be wasting our time and money by doing this in September?

That's what I thought also. There are people on the web offering these cruises. I think we will skip it. The problem is we go to San Diego every September so I never get to see the whales! Well, I guess you can't have it all.

Who is offering whale watching cruises in September? There are several companies who offer whale watching cruises and several other types of cruise, but none that I know of who advertise whale watching cruises in September.

You might get dolphins, but the whales don't migrate at that time of year. Whale watching is January - March in San Diego http://www.san-diego-hotels-resorts....ego_events.php

You might enjoy a trip to Julian for the apple harvest

Spring is gray whale Season, but Harbor Cruises out of Long Beach has been spotting blue whales this summer. http://2seewhales.com/details/details.asp

I'm not sure what is offered out of San Diego for blue whale watching, though.

Does anyone know which direction they would be going? I have heard of Whale watching cruises who watch them come down from the North to their birthing place in Mexico. I have also heard of Whale watching as they head up North from Mexico to Alaska. So in September, which way are they heading.

Or, are they already in Mexico?

Does anyone know how they migrate and when they go which direction.

Check it out.

Blue whales and Fin whales can be seen off Oceanside this time of year. Boat goes out in the evening on some days for whales.
