Sedona-Ruins/Petroglyphs and Hikes

I have 2 full days in Sedona in Sep. I am looking for any suggestions for:

1) Native American ruins/petroglyphs

2) Fairly short/moderate hikes

Thanks.

I only know of the ruins in the area.

About 30 minutes south of Sedona is Montezuma's Castle National Monument which is a must see, but it will only take a couple of hours to see this park. This would be a short walk.

Just east of Flagstaff and about an hours drive from Sedona is Walnut Canyon National Monument. This would involve a short/moderate hike.

Just north of Flagstaff is Wupatki National Monument which is almost 2 hours from Sedona. You might be able to do all three in one day. This would involve short hikes.

About 30 miles southwest of Sedona is Tuzigoot National Monument. This place really didn't impress me that much.

Don't miss Montezuma's Castle. Palatki, south of Sedona has petroglyphs and a Sinagua ruin. We enjoyed both very much.

We didn't do much hiking due to the heat.

Try Boynton Canyon for a nice hike. Its one of the places that is said to have a vortex (area of increased energy). The hike was lovely and not too strenuous. Nicely marked.

I got some great replies when I asked this question back in June. The thread was titled "Sedona Hikes." Try searching for it or click on my screen name and it would bring it up. We ended up hiking Cathedral Rock (not an easy hike) and Airport Mesa and Bell Rock.

Cathedral Rock is great/steep, but there are plenty of places to stop on the way up if you don't want to go all the way up (if you do, bring good hiking shoes!!) Also, Grasshopper Point is a beautiful little hike. When my friends and I were there we crossed the creek and hiked up to a nice, secluded patch of dirt on the edge of the rocks. Some of us even dove in (feet first, of course)!
