Hike Sedona and Petrified Forest

We are going to spend 3 days in the Sedona area during the last week of March. What are one or two great hikes to do, keeping in mind that we need to limit it to maybe 4 miles round trip and prefer moderate to easy shaded trails. I've heard Boynton Canyon has a good "vortex" vibe, but what trail specifically? Also. is the Petrified Forest well worth the drive for a day trip from Sedona? Any hints?

I like the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert but I'm not sure it's worth it since it will pretty much take up one whole day. It's about 320 miles round trip from Sedona though the Petrified Forest and back to Sedona. If you get tired of Sedona...it's always an option. You will also pass by Walnut Canyon National Monument just east of Flagstaff.
