Sedona - Grand Canyon
We'll be spending a week in Sedona this coming July and it will be our first trip to this area. We'd love to spend some time at the Grand Canyon. What would you recommend? Do tours leave from Sedona? Is it better to drive and take a tour- from what location? Would we best stay a night?

We visited both Grand Canyon and Sedona during week of July 4th. First, flew into Phoenix and drove directly to Grand Canyon for 2 nights - went on a day hike down into the Canyon on first day and woke before dawn on the second day to see the sunrise above the Canyon. Then, left the Grand Canyon and drove south to Sedona for a few days. Then, drove south back to Phoenix, caught a Diamondbacks baseball game. Flew home the next day.

In my opinion, the best way to get to the Canyon in the 1st place is to drive to Williams and take the Grand Canyon Railway, and stay a night on the rim.
The railway helps avoid summer traffic.
You HAVE to stay the night, as said earlier.
