Is it worth the price of $395 (least expensive room according to website)to stay there when it appears there are so many other alternatives? I want it both ways-luxury resort but at a reasonable price. I'm not a cheapskate, but I feel sort of foolish to spend that much on a room. I'm looking for a place with great views over the Thanksgiving week. Any suggestions?
We spent 5 nights at the Enchantment Resort last February and fell in love with it. We only considered it because the offseason rates are 50% lower than what you mention.
I can't imagine how the resort acquired the land for its spectacular setting. The casitas are scattered in the canyon and the view from our room was great.
We stayed in a studio casita---the room with the Murphy bed. It was one of the least expensive rooms. It had a living area with the bed, fireplace, sitting area, and a very well equipped kitchen/dining area. It had a large bathroom with double sinks, granite countertops. The studio casita has a very large patio with a built in grill and table that faced the impressive canyon walls. The casita could be made into a 2 or 3 br unit--it was flanked by 2 hotel type rooms with small patios.
We actually only had reservations for 3 nights but a snowstorm prevented us from getting to the Grand Canyon. Disappointing, but no sacrifice to extend our stay at the resort. We enjoyed 2 more days of hiking. Sedona is a hikers' paradise.
Every morning the resort left orange juice and a USA Today at our door and every evening they offered turn down service and left complimentary bottled water.
We enjoyed eating lunch on the outdoor terrace at their casual restaurant Tii Gavo. After the first day, my husband and I split the sandwich--the restaurant portions were large and it was reasonably priced. If you end up not staying at Enchantment, you may want to hike Boynton Canyon in the morning and have lunch here. We also enjoyed the Doe Mountain hike which is a short drive from Enchantment. The drive out Dry Creek Rd is also beautiful.
On check in we also each received a pass for the spa. I hear the spa is wonderful but I didn't use the services. The outdoor pool was not open.

We stayed at the Enchantment a few years ago and loved our stay there. The setting alone is worth it. We would definitely return again. We stayed at a room close to the main lodge, which we enjoyed as it was an easy walk over to the pool, restaurant, gift shop and laundry. On Saturday evening they had "star gazing" with a local astronomer using a huge telescope. There are also some hiking trails right off the grounds there.
Everytime we went out and returned to the resort, we were still amazed by the awesome beauty of its setting right in the canyon.

Hi Schoolmarm,
We are staying in a Studio Casita over Labor Day and the rate is $270 with taxes. They are also offering stay 4 nights get the 5th night free so we extended our stay. After talking with "Sharon" at the resort, she said the studio was bigger and nicer than the king bedroom, especially with the benefit of a kitchen for snacks and evening cocktails.
What a beautiful place for Thanksgiving!! Lucky family.

OK, I'm convinced. Thanks to all who responded. I'll see if they're offering any deals, but it sounds like this is THE place to stay, especially after researching several guide books. I appreciate the helpful info, especially on what kind of room to reserve.
I'll post a minority opinion. I think $395 is way too much to pay.
There are many options in Sedona with fabulous views. I have stayed at Sedona Hilton and Sedona Summit condos and have loved them both. Hilton is a more upscale place on one end of town and has a spa and golf course. Summit is a condo development on the other end of town (very close to Enchantment) and had organized activities like Enchantment offers.
We visited Enchantment for a meal on a recent trip and left underwhelmed. Service was lousy, view was as great as many other views in town, and exterior of the complex looked way too much like Summit for the cost premium.

You might also want to check out the Amara resort. People have posted very favorably here about it.
I have stayed at Enchantment and it was great on someone else's dollar ($495 a night at the time; I was lucky enough to have a consulting job in west Sedona). But it is not the only very nice resort in town w/great views. It is the most remote perhaps, but not the only one.

schoolmarm, generally, we are very frugal, but do splurge once in awhile. DH and I stayed at Enchantment Resort in February a few years ago and definitely thought it was worth the money. The service, accommodations and the million-dollar view of Boynton Canyon helped make our stay one of our "special" vacations.
Like LindainOhio, we got snowed in, but booked massages at the Mii amo Spa for that morning. It was the first time DH had a message (sports). Now he's the one who frequently suggests that we get massages when we stay at resorts. Even if you decide not to use the spa, take a look at it. If you enjoy hiking, ask the concierge for directions to the Apache ruins or for information on other walks/hikes.
