Can't give you any direct advice but try www.citysearch.com and www.sidewalk.com to see if Seattle is listed on either of these. These are both good sites for information , assuming the city you are going to is listed.Good sites to know about for future travels. Good luck.

Good values, clean and safe right in Downtown Seattle include the Vance, Roosevelt, and perhaps the Paramount. You're not going to find big bargains over July 4th weekend, usually pretty busy here then. If you want lower prices there is a decent Travelodge by Seattle Center, a few minutes outside the Downtown core. The Pacific Plaza is an older, more budget Downtown hotel. I've never been in it but I've heard good things. Be sure to visit Pike Place Market and the Waterfront. Take a ferry ride if you want some great northwest water views. The best day excursion in the northwest is a drive up to Mt. Rainier. Lots of other suggestions available if you have specific questions you can email. Have fun.

We didn't stay there, but took a look-see at the Inn at Queen Anne (In the QA neighborhood) and were very impressed. It's a former apartment building, I think, re-done as a hotel, so each room has its own kitchenette. There's a courtyard and very pleasant entry/lobby area, and nice supermarkets right nearby for the $-saving breakfast or lunch. We would stay there if we ever get back to Seattle. A short walk away is the monorail that whisks you downtown in about 2 minutes. Just down the street from that hotel is a delightful little Italian restaurant, run by a Chinese couple (who got tired of coooking Chinese, the backgrounder on the menu says). It had an Italian name...and was just delightful!

A few years ago, we (and our 100-lb. Black Labrador retriever) stayed at The Warwick Hotel. Great location, efficient staff, very nice hotel building with attached garage. Walking distance to many places named above. An upscale hotel at reasonable prices.

I, too, am looking for a decent (clean, safe, affordable) hotel room in downtown Seattle over the week of Memorial Day. So far, I've found rooms at Pacific Plaza, the Claremont, and the Vance Hotel. All are queen-sized rooms at about the same rate ($120+). However, the Claremont and Pacific Plaza are not air-conditioned. Does anyone who is familiar with Seattle think that it will be hot enough for air-conditioning during the last week of May? And, of the three hotels listed above, do you have any idea which might be the best as far as location, efficiancy of staff and safety? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You say you are going to be there on July 4th, so don't miss the big fireworks display. It's at that park where they have the abandoned factory, and they have the symphony out on a barge playing music to the fireworks. I went about 10 years ago and it was the best display I have ever seen.
