Need lodging in downtown Seattle mid sept. Looking at the Warwick, Mayflower Park and Paramount. Would like to be near water, good food and sights. Thanks for any input!!!

The Mayflower Park would be my choice. It's located right in the midst of good shopping, restaurants and the market. They have a great bar and restaurant in the hotel (Andaluca). The Warwick is ok, but a few blocks further from the downtown area you are looking for.

The Mayflower Park would be my pick too. It's the best location (by a few blocks) and the nicest general atmosphere IMO.

I have not stayed at the other hotels, but I have stayed at the Warwick. I would not stay there again. Location was only so-so, but the rooms were very dark and dated. I will say that the staff were wonderful though and did everything to make sure you were taken care of.

Since I live here have not stayed at any of them, but the Warwick definitely has a stuck-in-the 70/80's kind of a look about it from the outside and is the furthest north and east, so least convenient walking location. That said, all of the 3 are near the water, good food and sights.

A friend stays at the Mayflower on business often. He like it but commented that some rooms are much nicer than others for light, airiness, noise, etc. Mayflower is the oldest continually operating hotel in Seattle.

good service ,nice rooms although could be considered small by some. It is on the National Register of Historic Hotels---This was the main reason I stayed there the first time..
Other reasons---doorway from lobby goes into multi-level shoping mall with a extensive food court--great ethnic varieties--- lower level of this building has access to metro system with information booth that has a real person in it during regular business hours -(there is a free "downtown" bus zone outlined on a map at the counter)-At one time(opposite side of food court0 there was access to the monorail that carries you to Seattle Center and the Space Needle-- heard it was shut down for a while due to some fire damage????)
One unusual service that I liked at the hotel--Every AM accross from elavator door on each floor was a cart with fresh coffee and tea and juice ...It was so convenient ..Don't know if they still do this as it has been a while....
IFyou like "new age" architecture-be sure to visit the new Seattle Library--they even have tours..
You will love Seattle--there is so much to do and see."Usually" Sept is great weather but because it is the Northwest --I always take one of those tiny umbrellas that fold up 2-3 times and carry it in my pocket...

Thanks for all the great info!! Has anyone stayed at the Willows Lodge in Woodinville? We have a day after our cruise that I need lodging for also. We thought the winery would be a fun way to end a vacation.

I haven't stayed there, but I did have brunch there yesterday at the Barking Frog. We checked out the hotel and it's lovely. The grounds are really beautiful and it's right next to the Redhook Brewery, Columbia Winery and Ste Michelle Winery.

We just stayed there 2 weekends ago, the Lodge is beautiful, I highly recommend it. Each room has a soaking tub for 2 and the most comfortable beds!!. Nice courtyard, 5pm wine tastings, complimentary continetal breakfast at the Barking Frog. They have some nice packages on their website:

Of those 3, I'd go for either the Mayflower or the Paramount. The Mayflower's decor, etc. is a little dated for my tastes but it does have a great location. I like the Paramount, but there is construction going on nearby so that might be a consideration (plus it's farther from the waterfront and the market).

Have you considered the Andra? It's close to the Mayflower but newly renovated and quite nice.

Yes, I have considered the Andre; it was a little more per night than the Mayflower.

If your budget can stretch to that little more, I think the Andra would be worth it (but I suppose it depends on what a "little more" is ;-)).

I was curious at to how much more after Suze's comment and at least on the seattle supersaver website (using some random mid-Sept dates), it's a difference of $25 per night, which I would say is a little, but to some perhaps it's a lot ;-). The Mayflower is a lovely older hotel, but I personally would go for the Andra given that price difference mostly on the basis of the decor.
