Seashore Assembly - Biloxi MS
Is anyone familiar with this facility and the condition it is currently in since Katrina? A group from my church is planning to stay here in Oct on a work trip to the area - but we have little knowledge about the facility itself.

Well all their building were damaged or completely gone, do not know if they have rebuilt. We drove through on Ocean Front Drive all the way from Gulfport and Biloxi in March and other than maybe a hand full of buildings nothing left. Everything is gone.

Well I went and googled and it said that it was hit hard and hardly any buildings left. But you will have to try and call them then, as I was just going from the internet and Katrina hit all the way to Hattiesburg and it wiped out Biloxi not just on the coast but inland as well. So good luck.

United Methodist facilities were not immune. Reports say Leggett Memorial United Methodist Church in Biloxi, which faced the beach, is "gone." Seashore Assembly, a retreat facility next to Leggett, lost all of its buildings except the cafeteria. Seashore personnel Art Steinaway and Scott Carter were reportedly serving Red Cross-provided meals from the facility. Arlean Hall, a building owned by United Methodist Women on the Seashore campus, was reported to be heavily damaged.
Unless this is not the SAME Seashore Assembly. But it was in the Biloxi section. And maybe they have rebuilt but hardly doubt it, with all the damage in the Biloxi area not just on the coast.

Thanks for the info...that is what I was having trouble tracking down. Can you tell me where you found it? We have talked to people at the facility and have been led to believe that they are able to provide shelter for groups to stay with them.

It said that at the time of the disaster they were putting people up in another facility somewhere else, maybe that is what they are doing now.
Also if you goodle Seashore Assembly MS you will come up with several topics, I did not check any of them so cannot tell you what it is saying.

Our church also has a group going to Seashore Assembly Oct 15-28. We are staying in Fraser Hall. This was a motel type building before Katrina and the downstairs units were "blown out" by Katrina. It is being used for storage of building supplies and equipment. The upstairs units are now being used for housing of work teams. There are 8 rooms, each with 3 bunks to accommodate 6 people. A bathroom is shared between every 2 rooms. Meals are served in the Cafeteria on the grounds. If you send me an e-mail at [email protected] I can send some pictures taken in April.
