Sears Tower is gone

The Sears Tower is now the Willis Tower.

But I don't think I'll ever get used to that, esp. since I don't live there so I won't get used to hearing people call it that.

FWIW, I think visitors are better off with the view and the ambiance at the Hancock Observatory. (it's still that, isn't it?)

They can rename it, but I'm still going to call it the Sears Tower.

The Met Life Building in NYC is still the Pan Am Building. I don't care what anyone says.

Can you imagine if that great art deco skyscraper in NYC were known as the Daimler AG building instead of the Chrysler Building??

Even with most sports arenas selling out for $, I still tend to use their original names (Boston Garden, Hartford Civic Center, etc).

It will always be the Sears Tower to me.

I was just told by a Chicago person that nobody there calls it the Sears Building or the Sears Tower, but a true Chicagoan (?) just calls it Sears. I found that hard to imagine. Anyone?

"a true Chicagoan (?) just calls it Sears"

I grew up in Chicago, and I too find that hard to imagine. The tall building is the Sears Tower. "Sears" is any of the branches of the department store.
