Seafood

Hello,
Can you share with me best restaurants for seafood near Capecod and Newport. I'm looking for crab, lobster and hear Dogfish is also great.
I'm looking for freshness and quality and not necessarily elegance.
Thanks

Crab is not common in New England, though you will find it.

I haven't eaten dogfish in years but it may just be listed under the more generic term "shark."

Fried clams and fried calamari ( squid) are everywhere, the the best fried clams I have ever eaten are at theClamBox on Quincy Shore Drive in Quincy, Massachusetts.

On Cape Cod, I like Cooke's Seafood in Hyannis. I think they have. Place in Eastham as well.

Lobster is best eaten as close to the water as possible, in Maine usually at a picnic table on the dock where they are sold. Eating a lobster in a restaurant ill be more expensive.

There are literally hundreds of good seafood restaurants in Massachussets and Rhode Island. The most popular foods are lobster, clams, haddock, flounder and scallops - I don't think crab and dogfish are that popular. For good, inexpensive seafood on the Cape, Seafood Sams is one place we sometimes go.

And we love RI Clam Chowder, made with broth instead of cream or tomatoes. You will also find Portugese dishes and ingredients in coastal New England.
