Hope you, Pup and the Yankee have a safe cross country trip. Enjoy your journey. I know you are looking forward to getting to Portland and your new home. Bon voyage.

Go Girl Go!!!

A change is a good as a rest.

You'll be fine as long as you don't let Pup hang his head out of the car window - grit is not good :-(

Lucky travels and post asap so we know you all made it

If you happen to pass through New Mexico, you have my email address! Have a safe trip.

Enjoy a safe journey, Scarlett! I look forward to reading about your adventures once you settle in Portland. Pup could be a real asset in your drive across the country... perhaps you could film a few episodes of Pup the Driving Dog ((&)) along the way.

Safe travels, Scarlett. May I suggest you just follow a trail of Zingerman's bread crumbs....?

What a wonderful exciting adventure! Be safe!

Smoochies!

Hello, all! Scarlett has asked me to post the following interim trip report:

"We are in Nebraska. The Yankee continues to drive like a maniac but most drivers recognise it and get out of our way. We should arrive in Portland Sat. (We left Tues.)

Pup is enjoying the ride, since a nice hotel suite and a pig's ear await him at the end of a long day in the car.
Today he saw a bison and a small camel and was thrilled.

More later."

Scarlett darlin!

Happy, happy travels! Best wishes bumping along with you every mile! Before you reach Portland, sample some of Oregon's up-and-coming new great wines! ((f)) ((f)) ((f))

Thanks Marilyn! Nebraska. I'd been wondering how far along in their route they were. I had them starting Monday afternoon so that's a big of a set back to my mental route progress. Drat. What a trip--gives a whole new appreciation to how vast this country is I'll bet.

ncgrrl Aug 5th, 2005 04:42 AM

Thanks for the update. Stay safe.

Ok, I'll ask it, camels in Nebraska?!?

Cassandra Aug 5th, 2005 04:45 AM

"A small CAMEL????"

Fodorite018 Aug 5th, 2005 05:54 AM

I was thinking the same thing... a camel??? lol! That is the great thing about road trips. You never know what you will come across!

Marilyn--Thanks for posting this!

Scarlett--Hope the rest of the trip is safe also. Looking forward to having you here soon!

seetheworld Aug 5th, 2005 05:59 AM

They left Tuesday and they are already in Nebraska?!? Wow the Yankee sure must have a lead foot, lol!

Thanks for posting this Marilyn!

I don't know what to say regarding the camel, lol :D

GoTravel Aug 5th, 2005 07:27 AM

Wow! A camel?

Glad to hear MizScarlett, Yankee, and The Pup are doing well.

A camel?

margot55 Aug 5th, 2005 07:33 AM

If you read carefully, it said that PUP saw the bison and the small camel and was thrilled - so maybe we have to ask HIM!!! ;)

tpatricco Aug 5th, 2005 07:39 AM

I'm hoping for a photo essay. "Pup on the road." Fabulous photos of Pup posing with the bison, the camel, the big ball of string...

I hope Pup's mom coordinated his outfits so he'll look posh too. ;)

Tiff Aug 5th, 2005 07:42 AM

LOL, Trish.

Maybe Pup saw the bison with a small pack of camel cigs??? Maybe Pup's brain is joggled from the Yankee driving so fast! Man, they are haulin' the mail, they'll be there tomorrow!

Zoom, zoom.

elizabeth_reed Aug 5th, 2005 07:45 AM

I hope Pup doesn't have his head out the window ---> if the Yankee is driving fast.

Still laughing about the camel...........

Jocelyn_P Aug 5th, 2005 07:50 AM

I'm glad to hear Scarlett's & family are doing well.

Driving through that part of the country you see all sorts of signs for things like "Live five-legged steer!" and "See a two-headed rattlesnake, next exit!" so who know what kind of mutant camel this may have been...

OneWanderingJew Aug 5th, 2005 07:50 AM

I think they're delirious from the hours in the car...maybe it was a horse with scoliosis??
