Hi Scarlett,

Glad to hear you're headed to Portland. It's the best place in the country to live. I know from your postings last year that you've scoped it all out in advance, but let me know if you need help getting acquainted with our -- and now your -- wonderful town!

So tomorrow is not "another day," Miss Scarlett!!! ;-)

Bon voyage, and I hope any travel adventures will be fun and not harrowing. Please check in when the dust settles and tell us all about it.

Happy journey, Scarlett!

(Sophie said to tell Pup, "Woof and to nap alot as to not make his parents crazy.")

Safe, pleasant wishes are all coming our way.

Take care!

Here's wishing Scarlett, the Yankee and Pup a safe trip!

Congrats, Scarlett.

I've left the safe environment of Europe to wish you well here.

Do you know Mary Black's "Big Trip to Portland" or is the title of your thread a coincidence?

Scarlett - DO A BLOG!!!

We did one about five years ago (pre-blog)... all day long, we made notes of funny things, place names, etc. At night, one of us wrote the daily letter, and the other wrote the parenthetical comments. The next day we switched roles. When I got home (I was accompanying a pal to her new job at Glen Canyon, from Fort McHenry in Baltimore), I pulled all of our e-mails together, with the corresponding replies from friends, and published a small book for us and our pals. It was called "Careening Across the Country - Denigrating the Locals!"

Have a safe journey, and I hope all goes well!

"Fear and Loathing in Ga, Tn, Mo, Ut, Ne, Id and wherever else..."? Looking forward to your upcoming dissection of the wonders of Portland, Scarlett.

Scarlett, if your traveling companions become troublesome, always remember: as long as you've got a credit card and there's an airport around, just bail out, designer purse in hand, at the nearest taxi stand!

Seriously, I do wish you, H. and Pup the safest of journeys and lots of sights to entertain you. There's some funny stuff out there, take notes for us.

Portland is gonna welcome you with open arms when you arrive, at last, at "home". Hugs, kiddo!

I've never gone that way. I usually hug I-10. Have a great trip. I'll be thinking of you when the next big one blows through -- it is a bit much to ask of humans, isn't it? I think you and Portland will be a good fit from what I've heard of Portland. Au dieu, be safe.
