Oh my lord, LilMsFoodie. I didn't come back to this thread after originally posting condolences for arkansasnurse but when it seemed to be swelling in posts, I decided to check. I am stunned at your news although I gathered something was going on from something you said on a recent thread. My heart goes out to you. Please post back as soon as you can and let us know you're ok.

18 years? How lucky you were to have such a special friend. I'm so sorry for your loss. As an animal lover, my heart goes out to you. And what a wonderful cat you have! Your story brought tears to my eyes.

Just a few moments before reading this, as I was petting my 15 year old, deaf cat, I thanked her for all of her wonderful loyalty and love throughout all of our years together.

These animals have a way...

Now, if only my dog could become her ears.

Oh, Arkansas Nurse, I am so sorry for your loss. Puppy sounds like he pulled the right lottery ticket to end up with your family! While it's always sad to hear of a pet's passing, I always feel good knowing of families who treat their pets so well--you know he had a good life.

It was also nice to hear your tabby was so thoughtful! I have friends who usually have unkind things to say about cats, but I always feel like they are just as loving as dogs.

My heart goes out to you and your family!

Dear Arkanasnurse,
Thank-you so much for sharing your story with all of us. Hopefully you are feeling all the love and caring thoughts being sent your way.
I was very touched by the poem that Robyn sent to you, author unknown. It brought tears to my eyes. I also like the poem The Rainbow Bridge. I think I read that someone wrote where you could find it. Did you read it yet?
I think your father must be very pleased right know that you are sharing part of his life with so many other pet lovers. I did laugh when I read about your customized van.
I have an eight-year old cocker spaniel, Alyson marie. I dont travel with her on long trips but she loves to go to grandmas house every night. She loves the schoolbus and loves children. If I mention the word bath or vet she hides and I have to look for her. She is my best friend. Thats whats so special about our animal friends. They have this unconditional love for us. They are always happy to see us and would never betray us.
I also have a cat, her name is Zoe and she is five. Alyson Marie lets her know whose boss and that she was in our home first. However, whenever we go anywhere we come home to find them sleeping side by side.
I bet your tabby is grieving, she will need extra hugs.
Thanks Again,
Mary
