Savannah tonight

My husband and brother are driving to Florida with a stop in Savannah tonight. Can anyone suggest a place to stay, also they are looking for a pub to watch the football game tonight. Thanks everyone...they left from Boston last night and hope to be in Fla tomorrow..

We did the same thing on Thanksgiving. We got a great room at the Hilton Garden Inn on Bay street (right downtown) and then found a nice oyster bar on River street to watch football. Had great oysters as well but I cannot remember the name of the place.

Thanks gmoney, I will check the rates. The oyster bar sounds perfect. Can they walk to bar ? I'm sure they won't want to get in a car ! If you remember the name can you let me know.

If the Hilton Garden doesn't work (and they're willing to drive into downtown and not just stop off I-95), try the Hampton Inn on Bay. Lots of places to walk to to see the game. There used to be a large sports bar in City Market, just down Bay Street.

Hampton Inn has a better rate than Hilton. Are they located in the Historic District? Just want to be sure location is good..they do want to be in the heart of Savannah. Does Bay Street have the pubs? Thanks for your help.

Want to make sure it's the Hampton Inn on Bay Street (not MLK). Right in the middle of the historic district. There are plenty of bars/restaurants in easy walking distance either on Bay Street or River Street or cross streets.

The Hampton and the Hilton are both on Bay street. It is an easy walk to River street from both of them.

There's also a new Staybridge Suites and Holiday Inn Express on Bay street in the historic district (right there with the Abercorn Hampton Inn). There will be plenty of places to eat with the game on there on Bay Street and/or River Street

Thanks. Hampton Inn is not pet friendly (yes, they have Mom's cat too ) Staybridge is pet friendly..never heard of that hotel, I'm assuming it's equivalent to a Hampton Inn..just want to be sure the location is safe. Thanks again.

It's one of the Holiday Inn group hotels - their suite hotel. It's brand new and very nice. It's right there in a row on Bay with the others you have mentioned (in between the Hampton and the Hilton).

The East Bay Inn is also pet friendly (first floor only) if they need another option. All within a block of each other.

Thanks everyone. They stayed at Staybridge and it worked out perfect. They found the oyster bar and then an Irish pub. Thanks again.

I just booked the Staybridge on Hotwire for $69 for my upcoming trip. The AAA rate booking through the hotel was $103. I'm excited about the deal and trying out the Staybridge myself.

I did my research on betterbidding.com and was pretty confident that the 3* hotel with kitchenette in the historic district was the Staybridge. The hotel list is never completely correct, but often is.
