Savannah - Great B&B Found

For anyone going to or considering a visit to Savannah, just wanted to pass this along.

I must have every tour book there is on Savannah - it's an obsession my husband puts up with. I looked and looked and could not decide where to stay, as we wanted somewhere really nice, not a standard "hotel" type place, and were limited on budget.

I just happened to run across a place called The Zeigler House on Trip Advisor.

http://www.zeiglerhousesavannah.com

It turned out to be the find of a lifetime, and was not listed in any of our books. Very, reasonably priced, centrally located in the Historic District on the prettiest street in Savannah, and owned by the nicest people you could want to meet.

Each "unit" (there are 5 total) has a private entrance, so you just be off on your own if you want, although the house has a shared parlor and porch for guests.

The thing we like most was that it really was not a room, but a whole apartment - giant bathroom, bedroom, living room, kitchen (no oven), and beautiful private outside garden patio with wicker furniture, water fountains, and beautiful plants. Everything is very luxurious and new, and beautifully decorated. It was also very quiet, which we appreciated. The housekeeper comes in every day and even washed our dishes for us!

The owners live upstairs, so they are always accessible for restaurant suggestions, bookings, etc. If (rather WHEN) we return to Savannah, we will not stay anywhere else - I can't imagine finding a better place.

I always like it when people share places they've stayed that they like - especially the lesser known ones. I hope others find this helpful.

Wanderer, thanks for sharing this information. I checked out the site, and it looks like the kind of place I'd love to stay on a trip to Savannah. (LOVE Savannah!) I like the fact that they serve a continental breakfast in your room, and the rooms look just beautiful. One thing I am not fond of in B&B's is that communal breakfast every morning! I prefer my own company in the a.m., as a rule.. Thanks again.........

That's what we loved. Getting up when WE wanted, putting the coffee and english muffins on - or whatever we felt like - the owner actually asks you when you reserve what you like to eat, shops for it, and puts in in your refrigerator before you arrive (along with fresh flowers in the living room)!!

We also liked just keeping some wine in the fridge and at night after a long day of walking around, coming home, sitting out on the patio with a glass of wine and reading.

Truly relaxing!!

Wanderer, thanks for letting us all know about this treasure! My husband and I love visiting Savannah. You're quite right about Jones Street being one of the absolute prettiest streets. What a great place for the B&B to be located on! I had trouble choosing which room I liked best. Which one did you stay in?

We stayed in Lafayette. I think it is their largest "room" and done all in blue and white, which I love, so it was very "airy" feeling.

We liked the downstairs rooms best because of the private patios. I can't remember - the upstairs rooms might have a private porch.

I forgot to mention, there is also a large jacuzzi tub in the very large bathroom which was heavenly after long walks.

The bed we had (king) was also like sleeping on a cloud. I liked it so much I asked the owner who the maker was, as I have never slept better.

It was Kingsdown, which I've read iffy reviews on in epinions.com and can't understand why (very large, hard to find sheets for, etc. were the comments). I like a little softness to my bed, but not too much. My husband seemed to think the bed was just a little too soft for him.

Dian (the owner) said she thinks also that it is a comparable bed to the "Heavenly" bed which the Westin hotel uses. Don't know anything about that bed.
