CHARLESTON BED AND BREAKFAST

This is the third time I have posted this message, the other two never were posted, so I appologize if all three show up...But can anyone recommend a great B & B in Charleston, SC. My husband and I will be there in July and want to stay in the historic district.

Not a B and B but similar somewhat in atmosphere, we recently stayed at the Meeting Street Inn and were very happy. Great location in the historic district, very nice staff. Continental breakfast and wine/snacks in the afternoon. Nicely landscaped patio to sit and enjoy. About 50 rooms so larger than a B and B but rooms have four-poster beds and are very spacious. We loved Charleston and hope you enjoy it as much!

Two Meeting Street was wonderful. Cookies in the afternoon on the porch, breakfast in the room on our own balcony, view of the water, nice bathroom.........

Hi Ms. Rogers,

Would you mind sharing with me any information you learn about Charleston B&B's. I am planning a trip for my wife and mother. Looking for romantic and inexpensive. Agenda for a three day trip?

Thank you,
Nathan

Of the many places we've stayed in Charleston, the Elliot House Inn is our favorite. Why? It's right in the middle of things, has a lovely courtyard with palm trees and a spa, and free old-fashioned bicycles for guests to borrow. It's so much fun to get up early and ride through all the neighborhood streets. There's a cocktail hour every day and you can chit chat with other guests. And the price is reasonable, in the $125 and up range, depending on when you visit. My husband and I thought it a romantic place. A good place to look at other accomodations is on the www.charlestoncvb.com website. Many inns have pictures so you can see if the decorations and locations would suit you. Although I think it is very hard not to have a wonderful romantic time in Charleston, no matter where you stay or eat!

My husband and I stayed at the Meeting Street Inn several years ago. It was a very nice experience. Wine and cheese in the lobby in the afternoons, and a very nice room with four-poster bed. Another thing that went well, is we didn't have reservations, and we asked to see a room. When they showed us the room, my husband asked if we could have it for any less than the rate they quoted us at the desk. They immediately agreed and dropped $20 or $30 off the daily rate. I don't remember the price, but it was very reasonable.

My sister stayed at Two Meeting Street about the same time. She has traveled a lot. When she came back, she said it was one of the nicest experiences she had ever had. It's quite a bit more expensive than the other, but I'm sure it's worth it.
