Savannah GA recommendations -- tour & restaurant

Any advice on tour preferences in Savannah? We're 4 ladies who want a good overview of the city. We're also looking for lunch restaurant suggestions. Thanks.

We really liked the Old Town Trolley tour-you can get on and off at each stop-gives you a great overview.

More than many other cities, it is a good idea to take a tour in Savannah because it has buildings of interest from Colonial times through the Victorian era and they are spread out in parts of the city you are not likely to discover by chance.

A ticket to the Telfair Museums is a bargain. It gives you access to two good museums and the Owens-Thomas house: http://telfair.org

We enjoyed our meals at B. Matthew's Eatery--very good food at sensible prices.

Ditto the old town trolley tour recommendation--very informative and amusing tour guide too. We were there last month for a half day and had dinner at the Pirate's House, which was better than expected, and lots of history to boot (pardon the pun!) The prior time we went to Savannah, we did our own "do it yourself" tour w/guidebook, walking around for hours and wore ourselves out. With Trolley tour you can go back to the things that interest you, and you see a lot more in a short period of time.

Mrs. Wilkes Boarding House for a big boarding house style lunch is a must.

A second vote forMrs. Wilkes Boarding House for lunch. We went for a mother/daughter trip 2 years ago and we still talk about our lunch there.
