Saugatuck or Lake Geneva???

I know nothing about each area. There are 3 women, ages 83, 53 and 21 going away for "girls weekend". Both areas look very nice. We're coming from Chicago. Would you recommend one over the other? Why? We're looking for relaxation, quaint shops and restaurants. Thanks.

I've been to both and they are exactly what your looking for. I prefer Saugatuck, but that's because we go by boat from chicago.

If you do decide on Saugatuck, let me know I'll give some suggestions.

I'm very interested in Saugatuck. What can you tell me about it? I assume you go by private boat from Chicago- correct?

I don't know Lake Geneva at all, but have been to Saugatuck numerous times. It is a very quaint city - great shopping district about 3-4 blocks worth of cute shops and art galleries. The walk along the river to see the boats is very nice too. If you like views of the big lake and sun sets or the beach, Lake Mi's beaches in that area are awesome.

The lodging is mostly b&b's. I am not sure if there are spas nearby. I think there is a fair number of theatre type things.

I'll put in another vote for Saugatuck. It is such a lovely town especailly in the summer with lots of great dining and shopping options. I also like that it is a very "artsy" community so lots of visual interest (not the country crafts type but actual art). Also nearby is Grand Haven and there are some wineries in the area. Very beautiful, relaxing, and fun.
