Satellite Phone questions

I would appreciate any advice from anyone who has rented a satellite phone in the U.S.

Reputable companies? Logistics? Cost? Any other tips?

I googled it and there is just way too much info. to sift through.

Thanks very much!

Can not answer your question - but will offer some advice for why you have not received responses. Why do you want a satellite phone? Most people in US do not use satellite phones because regular cell phones work almost everywhere (with exception of very rural places, especially in West)

You guessed right, we will be traveling in remote places in the west with no towers. Business ownership has many advantages, but one of the disadvantages is having to stay in touch when we're gone for 12 days.

Would internet access work? My husband has some sort of thing on his computer where he can listen to his voice mail thru his computer - works well when he has no live cell phone access, including during long plane trips.

Another thought - when we needed international phone service (dtr in rural Spain) we called Verizon (our cell phone carrier) and they referred us/facilitated international phone rental - even though actual service for that was thru a competitor. Charges then came thru our regular Verizon bill - so your own carrier may have some info.

Thanks, gail. I'll try Sprint. Although I have been on the phone with them 3 times this week already, so they might just fire me!
