Can anyone recommend a nice place to stay in Saratoga Springs?

I would recommend The Gideon Putnam Hotel at http://www.gideonputnam.com/ there are also several lovely bed and breakfasts. If youare planning to go this month,reservations may be a little scarce - racing season is in full swing.

If you have trouble finding accommodations right in Saratoga, I would highly recommend Kings-Ransom Farm Bed & Breakfast in Schuylerville, a quick 10-15 minute trip from Saratoga. They have 3 beautiful rooms, an in-ground pool, and the owners are the best.

The Gideon Putnam is the best, but it will likely be booked solid, especially with the Travers Stakes (a/k/a the Midsummer Derby) this weekend. If you want to find something now, another suggestion would be the Saratoga Rose, a lovely inn and restaurant in Hadley; it too is about 15 mins. from Saratoga. If you're looking at coming sometime in September, the selection should be much greater after Labor Day when the racing season ends.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I'll call them all and see what I can get! Hopefully a midweek reservation won't be as difficult (I'm going right after Labor Day) so we'll see.
