Santa Monica/Georgian Hotel

Going to Santa Monica for Saturday/Sunday stay in early May with 3 women. I booked the Georgian Hotel for a rate of $214. I really don't want to spend anymore then that. Is this a good choice, location, room size, etc. Thanks.

I don't know about the size of the rooms per se (I work down the street), but the Georgian is very, very highly regarded by the travel press and by friends and colleagues that have stayed there. The location is basically almost ideal (downtown SM, on Ocean Avenue up the bluffs from the beach), the last renovation was extensive, and the place looks wonderful. There are some awesome restaurants in the area as well. I think you've done well.

I don't know about the rooms either, but while out there in Dec we walked past the Georgian several times. It has a very nice terrace streetside. Always people having coffee or drinks, reading paper, people watching, etc. We were able to get a good look into the lobby also. It looked very nice and we thought we might consider it for next trip.

I stayed at the Georgian last year in April with my daughter (20yo)and loved it. I can't even remember our room but I do remember breakfast! It was included in our rate. The food was fabulous (try the sour dough French toast)and we dined every morning on the porch overlooking the ocean(they have heaters if it is cool). A nice touch was a free computer with internet in the lobby. You will be walking distance to lots of shopping and restaurants. Don't miss Montana Ave., a mile north, with upscale shopping and restaurants. I am sure you will love the Georgian. Have a great time.

We stayed here last November, I liked it. Ammeneties are not overwhelming but i thought it was a really friendly place. Only gripe is the lift can be a little slow. Oh and if you are on the front the tramps can be a bit noisy but the location is so perfect who cares!!. We also enjoyed a FAB meal at The Lobster right next to the pier.

We stayed at the Georgian over Labor Day and LOVED IT!!! I was with my boyfriend. We had a corner room, queen bed I think. Our rate included parking and breakfast. You have to get the breakfast deal! It is delicious!!!! Just beautiful sitting out on the porch! It is a short walk to the beach but not too bad! I would definately stay there again!
