santa fe, nm

we (2 women) like what we see on line for the Inn at Loretto Spa & Hotel in Santa Fe. But, they have a $12.00 per day hotel service fee, & $18.00 per day parking fee. Also, we'd like 2 double beds instead of 1 king bed & they charge $38.00 extra for that room. So, what other "boutique" hotels are comparable to Inn at Loretto? El Dorado? Los Palomas? Hotel (or Hacienda?) at Santa Fe? Thanks for your help!

so, to be clear, that's Santa Fe, NM. And I was wondering if any comparable hotels also charge daily hotel service fee (i'm assuming others might charge the daily parking fee)
thanks again

Can you be a bit more specific as to what you are looking for in a hotel? Most of the hotels in Santa Fe are "boutique" in that while they are "chain" owned [most of them] they are fairly small in size and have a very local feel to them.

What is your definition of boutique?

Do you want to be right near the plaza or will a short [or a bit further] distance be ok?

Do you want a hotel with a spa?

What price range?

What time of year?

With a bit more info from you, suggestions will be easier.

yes, we want to stay very near the plaza, we plan to go mid november (weekend before thanksgiving)..I checked out the hotels i listed above, just wondering why Inn at Loretto was a little more than the others. Any preferences in the hotels I listed? Is one better than the other? It seems like most had spas, & we might check that out too. Just wondering if 1 of the 4 I listed above is better than the others. thanks

You didn't mention it, but we have stayed at Inn on the Alameda twice, and really liked this place. It's in between Canyon Road and the Plaza. Nice rooms, nice staff, great complimentary breakfast.

We stayed at the Old Santa Fe Inn and it's also a ground level entry place. We had no problems. It's about 3.5 blocks from the Plaza or less, very close to the shops and restaurants just south of the Plaza like along Alameda, and right across the street from the Governor's Mansion. Good SW style breakfast buffet, comfortable rooms. We wanted a true suite not an open suite, so we chose the OSF over Inn on the Alameda.

Parking at the OSF = FREE.

I've not stayed there, but know where Las Palomas is, and don't think you have to worry about safety. Thought you wanted to be closer to the Plaza though.

A couple things usually on our "must" list are Friday evening gallery openings on Canyon Road, Farmer's Market on Saturday morning, and, particularly for my wife, a class at Santa Fe School of Cooking. We went to Puye on our most recent visit; both of us preferred it to Bandelier.

Yes, Los Palomas is within walking distance to the Plaza. Be aware that it is kind of a "compound like" set up with each room/casita being different. That can lead to getting a room that is different than what the pictures on their website show. This is pretty typical of non "hotels" in Santa Fe, i.e., that each room is decorated, size etc differently.

I have never stayed there, but there are several reviews on Trip Advisor that glow and several that are far less kind.

If you want to be sure of what you are getting, a traditional hotel may be better suited for you.

Are there any others you are considering at this point?

I tried to post more above, got cut out:

I would seriously think about this choice. Inn of the Governor is almost right on the plaza and is reasonably prices, especially at this time of year. They serve a nice breakfast and while the place is a bit motelish looking on the outside, it is a good choice.
