Sanibel Island neighborhoods?
Hi! I was just on the VRBO site looking into condos on Sanibel Island. It asked if I would like to sort by neighborhoods. I've never been to sanibel so I'm not sure what this means. I'm hoping to go there next February with my husband and 2 1/2 year old. What can anyone explain to me about neighborhoods?

Sanibel Island has neighborhoods:
1. the area or region around or near some place or thing; vicinity
2. a district or locality, often with reference to its character or inhabitants
VRBO usually provides a map of the "neighborhoods" it uses within each destination. If not, you should be able to find such info on a good map of the island.

harmonize4me, just know that any place you stay on Sanibel/Captiva will be wonderful. There are no bad areas. Along with this great travel site here, you can also get good, intimate knowledge of Sanibel from tripadvisor.com's Sanibel Forum.

Boy oh boy gekko, you are a sarcastic fellow... I was pressed for time when I posted my question so I guess I wasn't very clear in what I meant. I was trying to say that I'm not familiar with the characteristics of the various Sanibel neighborhoods. Perhaps some attract families as opposed to honeymooners, or some are near shopping or restaurants, whereas some are off the beaten track. I thought maybe knowing more about the neighborhoods would help me narrow my condo search. Anyway, thank you elsiemoo. I will check out tripadvisor.com

The feature on VRBO to sort by neighborhood just sorts the listings by the condo complex or subdivision. If you want pictures and detailed info on condo complexes and their amenities check out the site www.IslandRatings.com . Hopefully it will help you narrow down your choices.
