Sanibel is getting too expensive. What about Anna Maria Island in February?
We are planning to get away to Florida for 2 weeks this February. We have visited Sanibel for most of our winter getaways over the last 25 years, but it is hard to find lodging there in February for $300/nt. Last year we split our time at Loggerhead Caye and the 'Tween Waters Inn. I do love Sanibel but we are going to move on and look at other beach towns.
Looking at Anna Maria Island. It seems to have more affordable accommodations. I would like to stay as close to $200/nt as possible, especially since we want to stay about 2 weeks. Are there areas of Anna Maria Island that are more desirable? Any suggestions for condos or homes on Anna Maria Island?
Any other suggestions of west coast beaches that are more affordable in peak season, where we can relax, bike, walk, jog the beach, has golf nearby? We would probably want to stay on the west coast.

Check out the St. Pete Beach/Treasure Island area. We have been to Treasure Island the last 2 years and love it there. We like Sunset Vistas

Really nice for the money. 2 BR condo/hotel right on the gulf. We have also stayed in SPB and it was quite nice as well.

Checked our favorite spot on Sanibel. Song of the Seas second floor condo with small kitchen, balcony looking over the gulf, and breakfast included. I picked random days, 7 days at $209.

Units in Blind Pass Condominiums on Sanibel Island are spacious and the complex, though not directly on the beach, is a short walk with no streets to cross. The 2/2 apartments start at $1740 a week plus taxes and fees. Lovely area, set apart from the rest.
