Anna Maria alternative - Treasure Island???
We typically go to Anna Maria Island each year from Spring Break. this year we got a late start looking for a house large enough for the 10 of us and we can't find anything available. We don't really want to travel any further south than Anna Maria Island. What else would be a reasonable alternative? Treasure Island? We are looking to rent a large home with a private pool and i am having trouble finding anything.
any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.

You know I can't picture a whole lot of houses on Treasure Island that are oceanfront. One thing that I didn't like about Treasure Island is that the beaches (most, not all) are so far away from your hotel. I want to hear the sound of the surf at night and not have so far to walk to the water's edge. If this would be a concern of yours ask how far from the house you rent to the water. You might want to consider St Pete beach or Ft Myers area or Sarasota Area. We always use VRBO.com

I ran into this same problem a few years ago. We ended up on LongBoat Key which is immediately past Anna Maria. LongBoat is quieter, much less busy during Spring Break & worked great for 8 of us. We ended up driving the short distance to Anna Maria a few times that week when we wanted to dine out. We do prefer the convenience of being able to walk to beach front restaurants on Anna Maria, but couldn't beat the solitude of LongBoat! Good Luck.
