Sandestin Resort - Need help choosing lodging

I am planning a trip to the Sandestin Resort sometime next year. There are so many lodging options that I am totally overwhelmed. I would like to be either on the ocean or a golf course. I good pool is also very important to me. There are only 2 of us travelling, so we don't need anything really large. But a kitchenette would be nice. Also, I would like to stay in a place that is newer/updated.
THANKS!

I've stayed twice at the Westwinds. It is on the gulf and fairly new. It has a huge pool, kiddie pool, and a hottub. There is also a bar/grill right at the pool. All the rooms have full kitchens and I believe they all have washer/dryers. We always book through Abbott Resorts. Good Luck!

Angel, I read in another posing that Westwinds is not worth the extra $$ than some of the other lodging options. Would you agree with this. I would definitely like to stay someplace nice, and I don't mind spending the money, but if it's not worth it, then I would prefer something else.

I thought it was definitely worth the money. We had a very nice, clean room. I know there is a new building next to the Westwinds, but I don't know the name of it. Check SanDestin's website. Their is also a Hilton on the property.

This past summer we stayed at Baytown Warf, and I loved it. Our unit was brand new and had a kitchenette. It has some great shops, restaurants, and fun bars. It is on the bay side, so you do have to take a shuttle to the beach. They have a couple of great pools. I was there for a convention. We never made it to the beach, because we liked the resort so much. Our favorite restaurant was at the end of the pier with live music. We had the 1/2 pound steamed bucket.

We stayed at Westwinds last spring. I think you are paying for ocean-front. The units we stayed in were nice. I'm sure the golf course and the Baytown Warf are very nice too, just no ocean view. I first called Sandestin Resort to book, the Abbott Resorts. Ended up using VRBO.com and cost was about 40% less. The owner we rented from had two Westwinds units and one Baytown.
