We liked Sebastian's also, but when we were there in November it was closed for reconstruction. Hopefully it is back in business by now? We had dinner at a local family restaurant in Cambria that was surprisingly good. I can't remember the name of it now, but it had a bakery, it was on a corner, and the parking lot was in the back.

I think it was called Linn's. Has good reviews on Yelp.com

Ok, just got home. Will post a trip report, I promise, but a few quick comments:

Blue Dolphin Inn: Can't say enough! It was beautifully appointed and the people who run it are beyond nice!

Hearst Castle - Did Tour 2, then went back for Tour 1 the next day. Loved Tour 2 because it was smaller and easier to ask questions. But it was nice seeing the things on tour 2. Absolutely hated the movie. We are probably in the minority here but really wished it had been more of a Ken Burns type documentary rather than a recreation of his life as a boy. We would have found thta far more interesting.

Food:

Sea Chest, Cambria - great wine, great ambiance, no credit cards, but we knew ahead of time so we were fine.

Sebastian's: Excellent sandwiches! Long line but worth the wait. We could easily have split one sandwich.

Robin's: meh

Linn's: Excellent food, mediocre ambiance. It looked like a Marie Callendar's but the food was so great, it was ok. We were discussing how they could have so missed on the decor while we decided to order pies to take home to the kids. They told us we could get them at the cafe behind the restaurant. Walking over there, we saw a cafe that perfectly matched the food and was exactly what we would have loved to eat at, with the same food. Oh well, next time!

Thank you for all of your help and suggestions!
